Extensive FAQ

Question: What is or is not within the server rules? Answer: The rules are intentionally written to be general and overbearing in order to cover every unique situation that can arise. Generally it is pretty easy to determine whether something is within the rules or not. However, if you are not sure whether something is within the rules or not you need to make sure you ask for permission before doing it using a Discord ticket. AI-Support can provide guidance on the rules but it is important to note that it does not know everything and sometimes gives incomplete or incorrect information. Just because the AI tells you something is within the rules does not mean it is. Always make sure you are 100% certain something is within the rules before doing it or you risk being permanently banned from the network.
Question: Whats the difference between Red, Green, Blue, Hide n Seek Answer: The Red, Green, and Blue servers are all very similar. These are the main EcoSMP servers. Blue is the oldest active server on EcoSMP and has some slight differences between it and Red/Green. Red/Green provide the exact same gameplay but are not interconnected. Hide n Seek is a minigames server where players can go have some fun and it is also sometimes used for events. If you want more details on the differences between the servers please read back through the announcements on Discord or request more information from the staff team using a Discord ticket.
Question: How big is the map? Answer: All maps are currently 20,000 x 20,000 blocks in size.
Question: I'm getting a lot of lag, is it the server, is it me, what should I do? Answer: There are many reasons you may be getting lag on the server. Its important to note the difference between server side lag and client side lag. Server side lag effects the entire server and can easily be noticed by a drop in TPS on the tablist. 99% of the time when players are experiencing lag it is on their end. While there are plenty of different reasons this can happen, it is generally caused by clients devices/network connections not being able to load all the chunks/entities around them quick enough. EcoSMP provides a high quality play experience with over 100 plugins, a high view/simulation distance, high mob spawning rates, on a modern version of the game, among many other features that improve the quality of gameplay. While this is great, it is very demanding on players devices/connections. One quick and easy solution players can use is lowering their view and simulation distances in their Minecraft clients settings. It is highly recommended that players search on Google or use tools like ChatGPT to help narrow down the cause of the lag they are experiencing as it can be caused by so many different things. As states above, 99% of the time when players are experiencing lag it is on their end and not something the server or server staff can help with. However, if players do believe this issue is caused by the server itself it is recommended that they submit a ticket on the Discord server so that server staff can get the issue fixed.

Question: Why did my mobs despawn? Answer: There is a limit to how many mobs players can have per 3x3 chunk area on the server. Different mob types have different limits. A good rule of thumb is to keep large groups of mobs at least 32 blocks or two chunk radius away from one another so they do not interfere with one another's mob limit.
Question: How many passive mobs/animals can I have per 3x3 chunk area? Answer: There can be up to 16 individual stacks/entities of passive mobs per 3x3 area. This includes any combination of pigs, cows, rabbits, sheep, chickens, or mooshrooms. Its important to note that one single cow counts the same as a full stack of 64 cows does. For example, one single cow, one grey sheep, and one orange sheep count as 3 entities out of the total limit of 16. One stack of 64 cows, one stack of 64 grey sheep, and one stack of 64 orange sheep still count as only 3 entities out of the 16 even though there are considerably more total mobs. In general, any other passive mob that is not listed here also has a limit of 16 individual stacks/entities per 3x3 chunk area. However, a stack of 64 zombies still only counts as one out of the 8 entity limit even though there are significantly more mobs there. In general, there is also a limit of 8 entities/stacks of all other hostile mobs that are not listed here. This means players can have up to 512 hostile mobs per 3x3 chunk area if they are fully stacked.
Question: How many iron golems can I have per 3x3 chunk area? Answer: Players can have up to 4 stacks/entities of iron golems per 3x3 block area. Its important to note that a single iron golem counts as a single stack/entity and so does a full stack of 64 iron golems even though there are significantly more total mobs in a full stack. This means players can have up to 256 iron golems per 3x3 chunk area if they are fully stacked.
Question: How close do mobs need to be to merge? Answer: Mobs must be within 8 blocks of one another to merge. They must also meet other requirements to merge. For example, a baby cow will not merge with a fully grown cow until it has grown up. A sheared sheep will not merge with non sheared sheep until it has regrown its wool. Sheep that are different colors will also not merge. Blaze and ghast merge from up to 32 blocks away.

Question: How do I find a specific item to sell in chest shops? Answer: Use the command '/finditem to-sell [item_name]' to find specific items to buy from chest shops. Its important to note that this only searches chest shops. Players can also look to sell specific items in Employment Offers using the command '/emp view'.

Question: How do I rank up? Answer: Players can rank up using their in-game money. When players have enough money to rank up they can rank up using the command '/rankup'. They can use the command '/ranks' to see the price of each rank. Players must progressively move through the ranks meaning you cannot skip straight to a later rank without first ranking up to the ranks that come before it. For example, players may have enough money to rank up to Journeyman but they first need to pay to rank up to Apprentice before being able to rank up to Journeyman.
Question: What do I get for ranking up? Answer: Ranking up provides many benefits including things like more homes, more shops, more player warps, Jobs boosts, and tons of other quality of life features. All rank perks can be seen in-game using the command '/warp ranks', on the wiki on the In-Game Ranks page, or you can ask AI-Support to list out the perks that come with each rank.
Question: Is it required to rank up? Answer: No, however, the game is made much more fun when players do move through the in-game ranks. This is one of the main goals players should be trying to achieve as they play on the server. Its important to note that while ranking up does provide advantages over lower ranks, it does not make it impossible to have fun on the server without them. The highest ranks on the server are really not intended to be achievable for everyone. Many players will never reach the highest ranks as they are exclusive to only the top players. This is intentional as it means the server can be fun for casual players who have limited time to play while also being challenging and provides long-lasting fun to even the most advanced players.
Question: Whats the difference between in-game ranks and VIP? Answer: VIP is an opportunity for players to support the server in exchange for some nice quality of life and cosmetic perks. However, VIP does not provide players with any sort of advantage over other players. In-game ranks provide the best perks obtainable and even those who have VIP still need to earn in-game ranks. In-game ranks are only obtainable using in-game money so they must be earned. VIP can be purchased using real money which is why it does not provide any pay to win perks. While VIP does provide some nice perks as we want to make it worth it for those who support the server, its important that it does not make the gameplay worse or unfair.

Question: What do I do if my code doesn't work? Answer: Codes may not work for various reasons. The code could be expired, it may have a limit on how many players can use it, it may be locked to where only players to won the event can use it, to where only certain ranks can use it, etc. If you believe you should be able to use the code and it is not working make sure to open a ticket on the Discord server and a member of the staff team will help you out.

Replanters can be purchased/used by players at any rank, they can be used at any time, they have a limited range, and can replant fewer crops than full auto-replant.
Question: Why can't I craft hoppers? Answer: Hoppers have a heavy impact on server performance and are too easy to craft mass amounts of. Some common methods to resolve this are to slow the hoppers down, limit them per chunk, remove them altogether, change their crafting recipe, or have players earn them using in-game money. Since we are an economy focused server, we feel the best solution for us is to have players earn hoppers using their in-game money. This improves server performance and also gives players another important item to spend their in-game money on.

Question: Why do villagers not breed? Answer: Villagers have a heavy impact on server performance and are too easy to breed mass amounts of. There are various methods that servers use to tackle this problem but we have decided that the best option for us is to have villagers not breed. The best way to obtain villagers is by finding the ones that have spawned naturally in the world. The second best option is to cure zombie villagers that spawn in mob farms. The last option is to purchase villagers from the server shop using in-game money.
Question: How do I access the server shop? Answer: Players can access the server shop using the command '/shop'.
Question: Why can I not sell items to the server? Answer: The economy is made much more fun, engaging, and realistic by not having players simply farm as many of one item as possible to sell to the server. That type of economy provides a very short-term, unrealistic, non-social, unengaging experience. We instead have built a platform where players can create their own success and participate in a much more advanced, social, and engaging economy driven by players.

Once the stack of baby cows grows up it can merge back into the original stack of 32 cows.
Question: Do stacked mobs effect mob farms? Answer: Yes and no. Almost all types of mob farms will still work just as good or even better on the server with mob stacking. The only types of mob farms that will not work are ones that are effected by the changes listed in the Modifications page on the wiki. Most mob farms will actually perform better on the server due to mob stacking because this allows hundreds of mobs to build up as players AFK at the farm meaning they can come back after AFKing for a bit and earn large amounts of money from the Hunter job and obtain large amounts of items due to there being so many mobs built up in close proximity.
Question: Why do mobs stack on the server? Answer: Mobs stack on the server for various reasons. The main reason is to keep the in-game economy balanced. The mob stacking and limits allow the server to remain balanced no matter what type of mob farm players wish to build. For example, slimes must be the same size as one another to stack, sheep must be the same color, horses must be the same size/color, mooshrooms must be the same type, and so on for all other stackable mobs.
Question: How do I see how many mobs are in a stack? Answer: Looking directly at a stack of mobs will show how large the stack is above the mob on its nametag.
Question: How can I prevent certain mobs from stacking with other matching mobs? Answer: Renaming a mob using a nametag will prevent it from stacking with other matching mobs.
