# Mapart

The creator can sign maps to ensure they cannot be copied and that credit is always given to the original creator in the map item lore.

### How to Sign/Copyright a Map

1. Create your map as you normally would.
2. Use **/sign** or **/copyright** while holding the map.
3. Your map will be signed with your username, and it will then be impossible for anyone except for you to make copies of that map.

**Note:** It is recommended to cover or remove the map art after signing so that other players cannot go there in the world to create their own maps of your build.
